Special Chat Room Challenges We are planning new chat room activities for the Expedition, and also found great value in the treasure hunt activities initiated through the last two chat room sessions. To best facilitate these treasure hunt learning challenges, the Camp invites your class to designate a specific two hour period, 8am-10am, or 10am-12noon, one morning during the Oct 19-30 period. We will make Camp Counselors available to you during that two hour block who will post the treasure hunt questions and challenges to your students in the chat room, and who will be there to follow up with hints, corrections and confirmations. If you would like to pair up with another classroom in the Camp for some friendly competition - a race to answer the chat room challenges, we will help you match up with another classroom. Please send your date and time chat room reservations to camp@rain.org and we will schedule the special sessions. All activities will illuminate the subject matter available online pertinent to this specific Expedition unit. If your class does participate in a private Chat Challenge, this is an appropriate time to use the globe key chains provided in the Expedition Crate as incentives for completing their research activities. At the close of the chat activities, we can announce their success in the chat room and hand out the globes. Printed Materials In your Expedition Crate is a book titled Window on the Channel. If you would like to prepare printed handouts for the students, you are welcome to photocopy pages 8-9, and 28-29 as handouts to compliment the online resources. If you have any questions, please write to camp@rain.org. Susan Barkdoll, your regional Camp Counselor has asked to receive email at raider@rain.org for program support questions.
