Team Approach

For schools who have been mandated to develop team-teaching programs, the Camp can offer you an innovative application for technology as a team-teaching mechanism. The suggested method for this is to first select a group of students who will participate in the Camp program. Then, as their courses are being scheduled for the year, enroll this specific group in the same English, History, and Science classes - same teachers, same times of day for the selected students. This will provide continuity for the students, and allow a number of teachers to participate in the program.

During the Fall, the students in the designated participating History class will be working on this project studying Native American, European and Modern History, and during their English class will be studying the suggested Literature. Then, starting with the New Year, the same students will be participating with the Camp again, but now during their Science period. This gives the students up to three different teachers with individual specializations appropriate to the subject matter, allows them to work on a continuous project through out the year, and allows them to see the linkages between fields of study s a natural part of developing a well rounded intellect.

The basic Camp classroom subscription provides five email accounts for interaction with the Trail Guides, one for the teacher and another four accounts for the four teams of students. When the team-teaching technique is selected, we will provide additional email accounts for the additional teachers, who are all encouraged to attend the summer training sessions. If only one teacher can attend the summer training session, then that teacher will return to campus and train the other teachers. Each teacher will then be on the teacher's listserv and will receive updates about the program, and be able to stay in touch through out the year.
