I joined Don Gillies at noon, hoping for a few Photo I.D.'s with Capt. Mat at the
helm. Heading up the coast, he soon announced we were going offshore
to join Capt. Dave, who was out scouting whales on his day off and had
some Humpbacks in the area. We found one Humpback who was so busy
feeding in the murky water that we barely caught a few looks and modest
flukes. Again Dave called to report an Orca nearby, so we had some
very good looks at this solitary Oo before returning to port quite late.

Increasing offshore winds and swell made whale spotting difficult on the
last trip of the day, when Sally Eagle and Anna Hilliard joined in the fun.
When found, the Mn's were elusive but the 12 passengers seemed to
enjoy the boat trip anyway. Carolyn
