Today' 12 noon trip aboard the Speed Twin found 5 Humpbacks 8 miles straight
out from harbor. We were with 3 of them for the remainder of the trip.
3:00 trip was a no-go.
We had another wonderful albeit small group of passengers (15) aboard.
There were visitors from Switzerland, England, France and Germany. Detroit
was represented as well. I realize that to some, Detroit might seem like a
foreign country, but it is the place of my birth. Since I am flying back on
Monday to visit, I had a very nice conversation with our guest from Detroit.
He later became quite pale and spent most of the rest of the trip near the
stern rail. Our French visitor (although originally from England as
evidenced by her accent) was from the south of France where I will be
bicycling in the fall, so I also engaged her in a lively conversation. She
told me how to say, "can you ship a case of this wine to California?" in
French. That is a phrase I will find very useful while there. Not much
activity from the Humps, but nonetheless the passengers were delighted to
not only see them, but spend most of our time on the water following them.
