After a cool and windy ride to the northwest end of SC without any sightings, Captain Dave decided to cruise the coast line for a break. After only a few minutes we noticed a lot of splashing towards the north. Investigation turned up about 25 Risso's with about 18 Dd's intermixed. Captain Dave said this was unusual and speculated that there may be some hybrids present.

We watched for about 20 minutes and were intrigued by the almost synchronous way the Risso's cruised. They stayed side by side in a straight line. They would surfaced at almost the same time, then submerged at nearly the same time, all the while stretched out and maintaining their straight chorus line before us. In the meantime the dolphins did their usual cavorting in and around both the Risso's and the Condor.

We then noised into painted cave and then headed back. Along the way we found a 1000 plus pod of Dd's to amuse the passengers with and then headed straight back to port.
