Hi All,
Howard Fisher and I had the pleasure of enticing future Photo IDers at the La
Patera School Science night on Thursday 11/6/08.
We had the whale research "lab" set up in one area, along with our
CINMS/CINPS information table across the path. There was a bit of distraction in the
classroom shared with the UCSB Marine Science Institute touch tank; however our
"Welcome to the Channel Islands," and Howard's friendly "Step right up"
attitude lured curious minds.
Next door was the Turtle Dreams exhibit staffed by a very dedicated SB woman
who takes in abandoned pets or injured reptiles, etc. The star of the night
was a very large steward iguana named Zoe, plus a boa, tortoise, pond turtles,
and others.
For those of you who haven't participated in a Science Night, I highly
recommend it. Sharing resource knowledge with
impressionable young ones will surely elevate the Naturalist groove!
Debra
