[CINC] SB Maritime Museum Docent Training: Orientation THIS THURSDAY!

Hi Naturalists! I thought I would forward along the following
information on SBMM's upcoming DOCENT TRAINING. The 8-week program is
just chock-full of wonderful presentations & outstanding speakers that I
hope would be of interest to you. Join us for an orientation meeting
this Thursday to learn more!

 Join the SB Maritime Museum Crew! Be a Docent.

Join us for an ORIENTATION MEETING on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2
pm to learn more about the 8-week docent training program, beginning
September 9th. Incoming docents receive comprehensive training on museum
exhibits as well as current maritime issues, preparing them to lead
tours and present outreach programs. The training covers all aspects of
the region's rich maritime history from ancient seafaring Chumash to
modern-day deep sea research, encompassing ship wrecks, oil exploration,
naval military history, environmental efforts and more. The sessions are
taught by a variety of local maritime experts and include insightful
fieldtrips, such as a tour of the natural gas and oil seeps aboard the
Condor Express.

Other SBMM volunteer opportunities include working on youth & education
programs, helping in the office or at the Admissions Desk, answering
questions in the SB Outdoor Visitor Center, and assisting with
curatorial or facility projects.
