Free Environmental Education Opportunities for Teachers and High School Students
You can register now for two outstanding educational opportunities for teachers and high-school students wishing to attend the “Future is Green Conference and Expo on New and Emerging Clean Air Technologies and Innovations.” It will be held at the Long Beach Convention Center September 14-16, 2008, and is hosted by the California Air Pollution Control Officers Association.
On Sunday, Sept 14th, there will be a half-day Teacher’s Workshop with sessions on Global Warming, Renewable Energy, and Environmental Curricula. Workshop is for all grade level teachers, and will be free of charge, but pre-registration will be required.
On Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 15th and 16th, there will be opportunities for field trip visits by high-school science classes, science clubs, etc. Both days will have the same conference sessions specifically designed for students, followed by an opportunity to view more than 70 environmental exhibits and 30 clean fuel vehicles. We have some funding available to reimburse schools for Substitute teachers ( up to $175 per day) and school buses (from $200 to $300, depending on distance from Long Beach Convention Center). Attendance will be free of charge, but pre-registration will be required.
To register for either the Teacher’s Workshop or the High School Student Field Trip opportunity, go to the conference web site at http://www.capcoagreen.com/teachers-workshop/. You can sign up for the Teachers Workshop on-line. But for the High School Student Field Trips, you will need to complete a registration form and fax it to Larry Kolczak at the number indicated on the form. For information, contact Larry Kolczak at (909) 396-3215 or lkolczak at aqmd.gov
