Greetings,

Condor Express trip for Thursday 9/4/08

4 blues (2 prs all adults), 2 sightings of Dds
25-30 passengers
1 large mola mola
3 species of shearwaters including pink footed, sooty, and black-vented
spotted by Capt. Mat
Red-necked phalaropes
1 lone harbor seal

Laura Shelton, Don Gillies/PID, and I had a great day with passengers from
California, New York, South Carolina, England, Germany, and India. Our first
cetacean sighting was a pod of approx. 500 Dds with many calves in the mix. We
later saw good sightings of blues near SRI, then a huge anchovy feeding frenzy
with 1000 Dds, shearwaters, and gulls. These dolphins were doing all kinds
of aerial behaviors, body slaps, breaches, tail slaps, and one individual
actually spinning like a spinner dolphin!

How rewarding to spend quality time out in nature with fellow naturalists,
plus very enthusiastic interesting passengers. If you need seabird
identification help, don't hesitate to ask Capt. Mat while onboard who is excellent with
bird sightings.

Debra
