Subject: [CINC] Free Community Forum on Plastic Marine Debris Polluting OurOceans

We are considering inviting the Algalita Marine Research Foundation to speak for the Channel Islands Naturalist Corps in 2010, however, if you have time you can catch their presentation next week in Santa Barbara.

"Synthetic Sea" FREE Community Forum on June 15th

Last summer, Dr. Marcus Eriksen of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation sailed a JUNKraft made of 15,000 plastic bottles from Long Beach to Hawaii to raise awareness of plastic marine debris polluting our oceans. Now Dr. Eriksen and Anna Cummins are on a 2,000 mile JUNKride from Vancouver to Tijuana, with a stop in Santa Barbara planned for Monday, June 15th!

Join us at this FREE Community Forum sponsored by the City Creeks Division and County Project Clean Water, and learn more about Algalita's quest to end the age of disposable plastics.

Learn how to get involved locally with organizations including SB Channelkeeper, Art >From Scrap, Surfrider Foundation, Ocean Futures Society, Healing Oceans Together, and more.

  Monday, June 15th, 6:30-8:00pm
Cabrillo Pavilion, 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd.
Click here to view the flyer.
Call 897-2606 or email Liz Smith for more information.
