Greetings,

Tuesday 6/09/09 began with 70 passengers on the Islander, with 37 landing
on Anacapa Island.

No cetaceans were seen throughout the day even for the non-landing folks.

There were many gull chicks in the trails (and all over), so well
camouflaged it was scary. People definitely had to watch where they stepped. A
peregrine falcon pair made an appearance.

Students from Cal State Channel Islands were out counting gull nests. They
will be back next week, and plan to present findings to CINPS after the
project.

One of the most exciting parts of the day: Dave Begun gave his first
interpretive virtual kelp forest hike on the Channel Islands Live Dive program!
He was his usual awesome self underwater as he is on land. Congrats Dave!

Debra
