Blue Whales: 20-30, spouts everywhere
Humpbacks: 11, again distant beaches & spouts everywhere
Common Dolphin: Two groups, about 300 together.

The day was one of those perfect ones.  Sun was shining, ocean was flat, no one sick, & one of the warmest I have had on the water.  The captain headed straight out to the sweet spot at the western end of Santa Cruz where the most of the sightings have been lately & we were not disappointed.  There was little acrobatic behavior from the Humpbacks today.  The first Humpback that we saw did do some tail throws & we could see distant breaches.  There were 2 Blue tail flukes.  But it seemed they all were feeding today.  Some did come close to the boat but didn't stay long.  Still an exceptional day on the water!  Other naturalists on the boat were Carol Shoemaker & Don Shubert on PID.
