It was an awesome day in the vicinity of the gap; calm waters and good
visibility provided an opportunity to see many blows. 43 passengers and the
rest of us had a unique experience to see Blue Whales lunge feeding on
krill! According to Cpt Mat this is a rare occurrence and only happens a few
times a season. Fortunately Bob Perry was aboard and pictures of this rare
event should be on Condor Express Photos.com this afternoon. It was
unbelievable seeing these huge whales erupting on the surface with krill
scattered everywhere. To add to the day's adventure Bob Perry brought a
plankton net and we attempted to get some krill.
I had the pleasure of working with Cubby Winkel and Carol McCleskey who was
very busy on PID.
