[CINC] 5 Spouting Orcas seen by IPCO Islander enroute to Scorpion, Monday, 6/29/09

Leaving Ventura Harbor at noon for half-day Scorpion trip under gray skys and flat seas,  about 300 commons were spotted and about  2/3 out, in 106 fathoms  IPCO Islander's Helmsman Dave spotted five (5) Orcas (perhaps 1 adult male, 1 adult female, 3 juvenilles) which we watched spouting about half dozen times each over 10 minutes from 200 meters starting about 1:05 p.m.
 
I led the Cavern Point hike, and Patricia Turner did Visitor Center interpretation.
