Mark Pesce has a new book coming out soon called Flying on the Web:VRML.

Ken Gaebler announced the availability of VREAM's WIRL (Alpha Release 1.0), a Netscape plug-in VRML browser for Windows 95. WIRL is available for free download at VREAM's Web site, http://www.vream.com, and at Netscape's Web site, http://home.netscape.com, on the inline plug-ins page.

The Intel Architecture Labs announced: <"Realistic Sound Experience"

Black Sun announces its free beta version of CyberGate, a VRML browser with extensions for multi-user communication (chat) and information exchange.

Black Sun announces, PointWorld, a set of VRML worlds interconnected with lots of "real" web information.

The CyberPassage Beta 2 browser" and conductor are now available. In addition, the gallery has been updated.

Adrian Scott, Ph.D has posted an RFD (Request for Discussion) for a new newsgroup: comp.lang.vrml.

Brilliance Labs, Inc. is making available a beta version of it's New Proteinman's Top Ten VRML Worlds + Award

oThe team at Internet Graphics Group (IGG) at SunSoft has announced a new Java3D discussion list. Anyone interested in joining this discussion is invited to get involved by sending mail to majordomo@trek.Eng.Sun.COM with the words subscribe java3d in the body of the email.

Bernie Roehl will be, "releasing the complete source code for AVRIL as soon as I find the time to clean it up a little." Maybe in March '96.

Integrated Data Systems and Portable Graphics would like to announce the VRealm plug-in beta 3 for Netscape 2.0 (Windows) It is now available for download from the IDS site.

Hans Holten-Lund, M.Sc.EE has released a prototype version of his VRML browser 'xweb3d' to the general public.Mostly Unix Platforms.

Netscape has acquired Paper Software. Over the next couple of weeks, starting Feb 13, they will be posting content, demos, and betas of this technology.

Jan C. Hardenbergh has posted some preliminary notes on the recent VAG meeting at http://vag.vrml.org/vrml20info.html

Mark Pesce reports that, "The VRML 1.0 Clarifications were officially "blessed" by the VAG. " at their Feb 5th meeting.

The Microsoft ActiveVRML is also being formatted into a postscript file and a Word file.

Alex Edelstein Sr. Product Manager, Netscape Navigator at Netscape Communications Corp has announced Netscape's endorsement of Moving Worlds.

The CyberPassage Beta 2 browser" and conductor are now available. In addition, the gallery has been updated.

Sony plans to release a E-VRML version of CyberPassage by the end of February as an interim move toward a Moving Worlds version. Rodger Lea

The HTML version of the Sun HoloWeb VRML II proposal has been uploaded.

MeshMart has added a new section to it's VRML tool page for a number of new generation VRML browsers.

Current discussion on the www-vrml mailing list: Question: What is PNG?
Answer: PNG (pronounced "ping") is Portable Network Graphics, "an extensible file format for the well-compressed storage of raster images. PNG provides a patent-free replacement for the GIF format." Available as an option in Photoshop.
