And like a virus it spread quietly, inconspicuous across the Assyrian, Haldaean-Babylonian and Sumerian civilizations, only to vanish.

Well, not quite. It would rear up again, to bring forth the Pyramids, bring about use of a common currency beginning in Greece, and give ultimate power to the Roman Emperor.

Later, under a secret society of Monks, the dark art of accounting began to thrive and take on shape and form.

And it is this being - dark art, the art of debits and credits that maintains the velocity of the world, occasionaly taunting and teasing even monoliths like Microsoft. Humility its lesson. All praise the dark art!
