The English as a Second Language Department, offers specially-planned classes for students who are not
fluent in English. The major emphasis of these courses is to
teach English to students as quickly as possible.
To make sure they don't fall behind in their other
classes while learning English, ESL students are offered bilingual classes or given "Sheltered-English" instruction with bilingual aides in their
content-area classes of Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
