Educational Background:

• Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara, In History (and broad Social Sciences area), 6 units short of a Minor in Spanish

Years at S.B.H.S.:

• 2 years. First started in April 1994 under Title VII (projecto M.A.S.) grant with Fred Madrigal

Other activities or hobbies:

• Sailing, boats, the ocean, backpacking in the mountains, traveling. But juggling for jobs these days, I have very little time for any of them!

Teaching likes:

• Making a difference in a students life, who is being left behind by the system. Making new students feel welcome in a new atmosphere where they might have an equal opportunity. I like working with the Mexican students in particular, to make sure they have an equal opportunity in this new cultural environment. I have always had a (simpatico) rapport with Mexico and Mexican culture since I was very young

Family:

• Bachelor. Live on a sailboat in the Harbor. Fifth-generation native Californian on one side. First member of my family to be multilingual in several hundred years (besides English and Spanish, have a rudimentary knowledge of French, Portuguese and Arabic)
